“The adoption of my proposal placing limitations and disclosure requirements on campaign contributions from contractors to Allegheny County Retirement Board members brings the board in line with most pension systems in Pennsylvania, including the City of Pittsburgh, County police and firefighters, and many of our local municipalities.
“When I took the job as Controller, I did not take it to keep doing business as usual, especially where transparency to the taxpayers and our retirees is concerned. The Board’s action provides important protections to plan members, creating clear and transparent rules and records available to the public. This is what our workers, retirees and taxpayers rightfully expect, and I am pleased to have championed this common-sense reform.”
