CONTROLLER WAGNER CALLS ON CORBETT TO UPHOLD TEACHING IMPROVEMENT SYSTEM

Today, Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner called on Governor Tom Corbett to uphold the Teaching Improvement System established in the Pittsburgh Public Schools.

"Not only does this system allow teachers and administrators to see what works best for students, it also provides parents with the peace of mind that teachers are accountable for performance in the classroom," Wagner recently wrote in a letter to Governor Corbett. "While no system is perfect and there is always room for improvement, Pittsburgh's Teaching Improvement System has the potential to begin the long process of improving student performance."
