Upon the resignation of Corey O’Connor to become City of Pittsburgh mayor, Amy Weise Clements assumed the office of Allegheny County Controller. Weise Clements was appointed Deputy Controller by former Controller Chelsa Wagner in 2012 and by O’Connor in 2022. Prior to this role, Amy was Budget Director for Allegheny County for eight years.  She has been central to implementations of JDEdwards ERP software in three different governments, serving as Project Manager and in other roles. Previously, Amy headed the Auditing division in the Controller’s office and was an auditor at the firm Grant Thornton, LLP. She earned her B.A. in Accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania. A Bethel Park native, Amy resides in the borough with her husband, Chip.

“It’s a great honor and responsibility to assume the office of County Controller at a time when a challenging financial situation requires robust independent analysis and oversight of government spending and functions. My thanks to my predecessors for their confidence in placing me in this role, and to my colleagues, who I know will continue to provide the valuable service to the taxpayers that I have always known them to,” Weise Clements said.

The Allegheny County Controller’s office performs a variety of duties essential to the operations of the County and to ensuring efficient and accountable government for its taxpayers, including properly recording all revenue and expenditures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, conducting audits that meet the highest professional standards, and engaging in timely communications with County officials and the average taxpayer alike on the most relevant fiscal issues facing County government. The Controller serves ex officio as a member of the Allegheny County Retirement Board, Investment Board, Jail Oversight Board, and Juvenile Detention Board of Advisors.
